TOC Preview ? -  BR Yankees 4 Nevada City Indians 3

As the regular season schedule for area Little League major division teams starts to wind down, interlock match ups sometimes pair up teams headed for the upcoming District 11 Tournament of Champions.

Such was the case this week when the Nevada City Indians hosted the Bear River Yankees Thursday night at Pioneer Park in an intriguing late season confrontation.

The Indians had already locked up Nevada City’s No. 1 seed to the TOC while the Yankees were in dire need of a victory to cinch Bear River’s No. 2 spot.

And, in what turned out to be one of the better played games this season by both teams, the Yankees emerged with a hard earned 4-3 win to nail down their post season berth.

Following Travis Anderson’s three-hit, 12-whiff pitching through five innings, the Yankees were able to squeak past the Tribe. Derek Adleman also provided key relief pitching by tossing a scoreless 6th inning.

As far as big hits go, none for the Yankees was bigger than Jake Sypnicki’s clutch opposite field three-run homer which left the Pioneer Park premises. Sypnicki’s HR wiped out what been a 2-0 Indians lead in the third inning.

Zack Sween singled home Adleman for the final Yankees’ run. The winners are now 14-6 on the season.
