SFLL Rangers cap 18-1 regular season

The Sierra Foothills Little League's major division Rangers capped a spectacular 18-1 regular season by notching a 6-3 win last week over the Braves. The victory allowed the Rangers to cinch the major division championship and will send the team to the upcoming District 11 Tournament of Champions as the SFLL's "A" team.

In the win over the Braves, hurler Jacob Yarborough and hitter Wade Lewis sparked the way for the Rangers.

Yarborough went the route on the mound for the winners as he hurled a complete game victory by allowing just four hits and fanning 11 Braves. Lewis, meanwhile, crashed a home run, drove in three runs and also made a fine catch in the outfield.

Also having a hand in the win were Anthony Ahrens and Wes Woodward who both banged out two hits apiece.

Adding more punch to the Rangers' attack were Logan Hurst with a triple, John Crane and Tommy Tye with doubles and Jake Buol and Cameron Miller with singles.

The Rangers set several league records this season with wins in a season and 201 runs scored. The team also clubbed seven home runs.

The Braves, who finished the season with a 9-10 mark, will represent SFLL as the league's "B" team.

The Braves will meet Nevada City's "A" team, the Indians, on June 20 at Bear River at 7:30 p.m. in their first game.

The Rangers' first opponent also at Bear River on June 23 will be the Bear River Yankees, the BRLL's No. 2 team. Game time is slated for 5 p.m
.
