July 21, 2008Rocklin Force "If" Game; Tri-City 11s Win SectionalThree District 11 All-Star teams are still alive in post season Little League Section and Divisional play after a busy weekend of action. Here’s a quick recap of the All-Stars action: Majors In the majors division (11-12), Rocklin defeated East Sacramento 21-3 on Saturday and then on Sunday handed Woodcreek of District 54 its first loss of the post season, 3-2. The win by Rocklin moves the District 11 team into today’s “if necessary” championship game against Woodcreek. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. at Tahoe-Tallack Little League in Sacramento. The winner of this evening’s Rocklin-Woodcreek game advances to the NorCal Divisional Tournament set to begin Wednesday in Alameda. Teams that have already qualified for the NorCal Tournament include Pleasanton American and Santa Clara. Alameda and Petaluma Valley will play today in Woodland to decide the Section 1 title while Susanville and Foothill (Palo Cedro) will play tonight in Sutter to decide the Section 2 crown. Morada (Stockton) and Hanford American were the two remaining teams playing in the Section 6 tournament which is being played in Taft. Next week's divisional tournament champion then advances to the Western Regional Tournament in San Bernandino. 11-Year-Olds Tri-City captured the Section 4 championship with an exciting 9-8 win over Woodcreek Sunday night in Roseville. The win was the second for Tri-City in the sectional tourney over Woodcreek. Now 9-0 in post season play, Tri-City advances to Nor Cal Divisional play which begins in Fremont on Wednesday. 9-10-Year-Olds Tri-City had its post season end on Sunday with a 1-0 setback to Woodcreek. Tri-City, which fell to Woodcreek on Friday, defeated Land Park Pacific on Saturday and needed to win last night to force another championship game with Woodcreek. Woodcreek’s 9-10s now move to NorCal Divisonal play in San Jose. Juniors Rocklin’s Junior All-Stars have opened NorCal Divisional play in San Jose with two straight wins. Rocklin defeated Olivehurst-Linda, 12-7, on Saturday and Sunday turned back Benicia, 6-3.
Rocklin will now play Tracy American on Tuesday in a winner’s bracket semi-final game. The NorCal Divisional winner advances to the Jr. Western Regional Tournament slated for next week in Aliso Viejo, located near Laguna Beach in southern California |
