Poor Air Quality Postpones District 11 All-Star Games

Poor air quality.

Those three words played havoc with the District 11 All-Star baseball tournament Wednesday as no fewer than six tourney games were postponed from sites ranging from Penn Valley to Lincoln to Tri-City to Rocklin.

And, if any more postponements are on the immediate horizon, it could force District 11 officials to impose a “single elimination” format to the tournaments which need to be completed by Sunday to advance district winning teams to the sectional level.

In tonight’s Area II 11-year-old tournament at Penn Valley, Sierra Foothills will try again against Penn Valley in a game scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, at Tri-City in Rocklin, Grass Valley, the lone 9-10 squad still remaining from the Golden Empire area, will test Auburn in a game slated to begin at 5 p.m.

In another tilt involving locals squads, Penn Valley’s majors will test unbeaten Bear River. Game time is 7 p.m. at Pioneer Park in Nevada City.
