PV Dodgers Top PV Giants, 9-3

The Penn Valley Dodgers topped beat the Penn Valley Giants 9-3 Tuesday at Western Gateway Park in District 11 major division baseball play.

The Dodgers opened the scoring in the first inning when Weston Gaddis opened the game by drawing a walk off Giant pitcher Thomas Hansen.

Teammate Dalton Maxwell then followed with an RBI triple to right to make the score 1-0. Maxwell then scored on a pass ball to make the count, 2-0.

The Dodgers added three more runs in the 2nd inning with a leadoff single by Orion (O DOG) Clark getting things going. Maxwell then followed with another RBI hit.

Clark also doubled in the third inning and the winners eventually added a run in the 4th and two more in the 6th inning with singles from Maxwell, Clayton Sorenson and Steven McClenthen.

The Giants got on the board with two in the 4th frame thanks to a double by Thomas Hansen.. The Giants also scored once in the 6th with singles by James Schnitzius and Wyatt Dale.

Joseph Ten Eyck pitched 2 1/3 innings with 7 strike-outs for the Dodgers while Clayton Sorenson 1 2/3 innings with 1 strike-out and Dalton Maxwell 2 innings with 4 strike-outs also shined on the hill for the Dodgers.

Thomas Hansen pitched 2 2/3 innings with 5 strike-outs and Josh Blyth went 3 1/3 innings with 4 strike-outs for the Giants.

Dodgers at the plate totals were Dalton Maxwell 3x4, Orion Clark 2x3,  Clayton Sorenson 1x4, Steve McClenthen 1x4, and Owen Day 1x2.
