Nevada City Jrs. Top BR; Force “If” Game

Brendon Wasley-Long scampered home on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Nevada City Jr. Division All Stars to a 7-6 win over Bear River Sunday night at Condon Park.

The win by Nevada City forces the “if necessary” game for the Area II championship. Game time is set for 7 p.m. this evening again at Condon Park in Grass Valley.

Nevada City had held a 6-2 lead early in the game before Bear River whittled the margin down and finally tied the issue in the sixth.

But Wasley-Long led off the seventh by drawing a walk, stole second and third and tallied the winning run on the passed ball.

Rob Wood delivered a big two-run double for Nevada City while Connor Fuller’s pitching notched him the mound win.

The game was the second one-run contest between the two clubs. Bear River had won a 7-6 contest from Nevada City last Thursday.
