Title Win Leaves Union Hill With 17-0 Season

Union Hill's Lady Bearcats put the lid on a perfect 8th grade girls basketball camapign last week by sweeping through the season ending Nevada County Athletic League tournament championship.

The Bearcats, who went 12-0 in the regular league season, capped their year by going 17-0 overall.

In last Friday's championship game at Bear River against Magnolia, the Bearcats posted a 35-23 win.

In the semi-finals, Union Hill topped Lyman Gilmore Thursday night 26 - 15. Leading scorers for UH in the semis were Lauren Mickel with 15 points, Erin 8, Bailey Walker, 2; Janette Williams,1.

Lyman Gilmore's leading scorer was Sydney Porter with 7 points.

In the finals Friday night Union Hillwas led by Lauren Mickel's 11markers, Janette Williams 8, Erin Selleck 6, Katie Johnson 5, Bailey Walker 2, Ella Corbett 2, Emma Peterson 1.

This is the 2nd team in Union Hill's history to have a perfect season under the coaching of Rich Simpton.
