PV Splits Pair; Eagles Top Ready Springs Pleasant Valley’s flag football squad played two exciting games this week with action against Union Hill and Magnolia. PV 24 Union Hill 12 - In Thursday’s action against Union Hill, the Bearcats started the scoring with Irvin Albano streaking down the sideline for an early score before the Vikings stopped the PAT attempt. PV finally got on track late in the second quarter when Kevin Patterson connected with Wide receiver Mikey Faudoa on a 30 yard touchdown pass. QB Nolan Stefani then passed to Patterson in the end zone for the 2 point conversion leaving the count PV 8, UH 6 at the break. In the second half, the Viking offense started rolling, with Sam Hayward leading the rushing attack before Stefani hooked up with Patterson for a 35 yard touchdown pass and another ensuing 2-point conversion. The Bearcats rallied with another great run and score by Irvin Albano but PV quickly scored again when David Mateos broke through for a 40 yard touchdown run. Stefani and Patterson then teamed up for their third 2 point conversion. Leading the defense for the Vikings was Anthony Fuegos and Sam Hayward. Magnolia 22 PV 14 – Magnolia scored early with a safety and then a touchdown but the Vikings came back when Kevin Patterson tossed a 30 yard halfback pass to Mikey Faudoa for a touchdown. Leading 10-8 at halftime, the Rattlers shutdown the Viking rushing game forcing PV quarterback Nolan Stefani to go to the air where he connected on 7 passes for 103 yards. The Rattlers then added two more touchdowns before Viking RB David Mateos scored a rushing touchdown. Leading the Viking defense in tackles were Kevin Patterson with 10 and Sam Hayward and Pat Shannon each with 3. St. Mary’s 32 Ready Springs 6 – The Mt. St. Mary's flag football team picked up its first victory of the season Thursday at Ready Springs via a 32-6 win. After two hard fought opening losses to Seven Hills and Lyman Gilmore Middle Schools, MSM came out with its charging defense leading the way. Providing leadership were Sam Reese (12 flag pulls), DJ Gallelli (6 flag pulls), and Allie Lima (4 pulls). On offense, Mt St. Mary's was led by QB Alexis Carrillo who accounted for four touchdowns and Alex Peterlin who reeled off a 50-yard scoring run. In addition, Sam Reese had a nice 35-yard reception.
