March 3, 2010 Foothill area schools entered in TOC Four area middle school basketball teams will head to the North Coast this weekend to compete in the prestigous Crescent City Jaycees Tournament of Champions. This year's boys 8th grade tournament is the 42nd renewal and will draw 56 teams from Oregon and California playing in seven seperate divisions. Entered this year from the foothills area are the following squads: *Rolling Hills Middle School, El Dorado Hills in the AAA division. *Franklin School of Loomis, in the AA division. *Weimar Hills Middle School from Weimar, in the AA division. *Forest Lake Christian School from Lake of the Pines, in the B-1 division. Rolling Hills, which won the Warrior Classic qualifier tournament back in January, is the No. 1 seed in the AAA division and will play Marsh Jr. High of Chico Friday in its 4 p.m. opener. Franklin drew the No. 1 seed in the AA division and will meet McKinleyville also at 4 p.m. Friday in the Trojans' first game. Weimar Hills, the defending tournament champion in the AA division, is the No. 6 seed in the AA division and will meet No. 3 seed Redding Christian in its opening game at 7 p.m. on Friday. Weimar Hills, 26-5 on the season, comes into the tournament after winning last week's season ending Nevada County Athletic League tournament championship. Forest Lake drew a No. 5 seed in the B-1 division and will collide with Burney in a 6 p.m. first round game on Friday. In addition to the boys basketball tourney, a queen contest, competition between over 400 cheerleaders and a sportsmanship award are also part of the activities.
