Jr. Miners, Jr. Bruins both

In home openers Saturday

Nevada Union’s Jr. Miners and Bear River’s Jr. Bruins will both be in their home opening games on Saturday in Sierra Youth Football Conference action.

Both coming off “bye” weeks over the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Jr. Miners will be returning to Hooper Stadium at Nevada Union High in Grass Valley to host the Lincoln Jr. Zebras while the Jr. Bruins will entertain the Del Oro Jr. Golden Eagles.

Both the NU-Lincoln and Bear River-Del Oro match ups take on an added importance because the contests are each Greater Mountain League battles. 

Game times for the NU-Lincoln  game  are as follows: 9 a.m. Peewees; 11a.m. Junior Midgets; 1:00 Midgets; 3:00 Mighty Mites; 5 p.m. Junior Peewees.

In action at Bear River’s Dave Ramsey Stadium, the line-up will be as follows: 9 a.m. Midgets; 11:a.m. Jr. Peewees; 1 p.m. Peewees; 3 p.m. Junior Midgets; 5 p.m. Mighty Mites.

In other SYFC action on Saturday, Roseville’s Jr. Tigers travel to play the American River Jr. Raiders at San Juan High in Citrus Heights; Granite Bay’s Jr. Grizzlies host the Woodcreek Jr. Timberwolves; Oakmont’s Jr. Vikings jaunt to Natomas and Rocklin will host Placer.
