NU Jr.Miners Collar Hillmen

NU Midgets Improve To 3-0 On Season

Nevada Union’s Jr. Miners recorded four youth football victories in five games with Placer last weekend.

The Jr. Miner Midgets took a 20-12 win over the Hillmen. Both the offensive and defensive lines of NU had great games on both sides of the ball.NU’s running game was key for the Midgets has the Blue and Gold piled up over 250 yards on the ground.

Leading NU were Jacob Freele who ran for 57 yards and had one rushing touchdown while Mo Nieves carried the ball for 113 yards and one touchdown.

Brandon Lopez also added a 40 yard score while Jason Murray carried the ball for 43 yards more yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, key plays were made by bothJimmy Klauer and John Henry Jones.Klauer came away with four tackles and forced a fumble which was recovered by Chase Federmeyer who also had four tackles.

Jones, meanwhile, had an interception that lead to an offensive score while  Elliot Roberts led the team with seven tackles. Gareth Noxon also had four tackles.

In other games, NU’s Jr. Peewes won 20-19 in overtime and the Peewees took a 26-6 win. The NU Mighty Mites also were victorious, 33-0.Placer’s lone win came 8-0 in the Jr. Midget game.
