Grass Valley Angels Trip Giants; Gain TOC Berth

It came down to the last game of the regular season but the Grass Valley Angels have cinched a berth in the upcoming District 11 Tournament of Champions.

Playing the rival Grass Valley Giants at Condon Park, the Angels combined the mound efforts of Greg Paul and Clint Bielen and power hitting from Wils Riley and Sydney Porter to take an 8-3 win and gain the post season.

“The kids played a good all-around game,” said Angeles manager Craig Fleenor. “We lost a tough game to the Bear River Rays on Saturday but we came ready to play against the Giants.”

Paul worked the first five innings to gain the mound win while Bielen pitched the sixth for the save.

Riley, meanwhile, launched a home run while Porter whacked a triple.
