Wildfire JVs Topple Golden Sierra

The Foresthill High School junior varsity football team entertained cross-divide rival Golden Sierra High School JV and sent them home with a 34-8 loss, Oct. 8. The win improved the Wildfires' record to 2-2.

After falling behind 26-0 in the third quarter, the Grizzlies mounted a drive that culminated in a 2-yard rushing touchdown. The TD narrowed the score to 26-8 following a successful 2-point conversion.

However, Foresthill's Tyler Giles took the ensuing kickoff on his 25 and raced past would-be tacklers into the GSH end zone with 4 minutes on the clock. Zach Moss tacked on two more points running the ball in after a botched kick that ended the evening's scoring.

Vinny Beaty put the `Fires up by 26 on a 4-yard dive play at 5:09 left in the third. The point after failed.

Foresthill broke things open in the second stanza on two touchdowns by Wes Archbold. Archbold scored on runs of three yards and 14 yards respectively. Alex Silva made good on the second point-after to give the Wildfires a 20-0 bulge.

Travis Wilburn picked off two passes late in the half to snuff out two Golden Sierra drives.

Justin Marshall rang up FHS's first six on a 13-yard run in the first quarter. Silva added the kick for a 7-0 lead.
