Bear River 11s Stay Unbeaten in Area II All-Stars

The Bear River 11-year-old All-Stars moved into the driver’s seat of the District 11 Area II All-Star Tournament being played in Penn Valley.

Receiving a four-inning complete game mound effort from Dayton Anderson and a perfect 3x3 night at the plate from Tyler Toft, the Bear River 11s remained undefeated in Area II play with an easy 11-1 win over Penn Valley Monday night.

The win vaults the Bear River All-Stars into Thursday night’s 5:30 p.m. first championship game for Area II honors. The south county team will play the survivor of the loser’s bracket between either Mid-Placer, Sierra Foothills or Penn Valley.

A second “if necessary” championship game is slated for Friday again at 5:30 p.m.

In Monday’s win, Bear River manager Randy Anderson noted that another “team effort” really paved the way.

“Our motto is everyone has a job to do,” said Anderson. “They are really living up to it by the way they’re playing.”

Bear River broke the game open early and then relied on Dayton Anderson’s superb pitching. Anderson scattered five hits, allowed just one run and fanned five Penn Valley batters.

Toft’s three safeties accounted for two RBIs while Kyle Soria also drove in a pair of runs with a 2x2 evening which included a sacrifice fly and a double.

Also aiding the offense were Robbie Hildebrand with a two-run double and Dayton Anderson and Michael Scudero with one hit each.

Manager Anderson once again praised the middle infield efforts in the game turned in by Nick Mansuetti and Matt Lopez.
