Bear River Yankees Too Much For PV Brewers, 9-0

Leading by just three runs in the fifth inning, the Bear River Yankees capitalized on a key-two-run double by Jake Sypnicki that helped them break open a tight game and get them on their way to a 9-0 whitewashing of the Penn Valley Brewers in District 11 Little League major division interlock action Thursday night.

Playing at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley, Sypnicki also checked in with a tantalizing mound performance as the Yankees’ hurler fired a complete-game three-hitter that handcuffed the Brewers’ hitters.

Also having a hand in the win for the Yankees on offense were Derek Adleman and Travis Anderson, both who banged out a pair of hits each, and Andrew Fagan who added a pair of runs scored.

The Yankees, who are now 11-5 on the season and are battling for one of Bear River’s two spots to the upcoming District 11 Tournament of Champions, also received excellent defense from Robby Hildebrand who patrolled his shortstop flawlessly and Cadan McGowen who checked in with a fine diving catch to end a Brewers threat.

The Yankees take on the Foresthill A’s Saturday at Bear River starting at 3 p.m.
