Junior high boys basketball action will rev up this weekend with several area teams entered in the Warrior Classic tournament being played at Sierra Hills School in Meadow Vista and Colfax Elementary School. The tournament, which will draw 16 teams ranging from Davis and San Andreas to Grass Valley, is a qualifying tournament for the prestigous Crescent City Tournament of Champions. Big tourney weekend for 8th grade hoopsters

A 16-team field will vie in this weekend’s Warriors Classic 8th grade boys basketball tournament which is being hosted by Weimar Hills School.

The tournament will be played at the Sierra Hills School gym in Meadow Vista and at Colfax Elementary School. Action begins on Friday afternoon with four games at each site and then continues through Saturday. The championship is set for 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at Sierra Hills.

The tournament has extra incentive as the winner automatically qualifies for the Crescent City Tournament of Champions slated for March.

3:45 p.m. – Franklin vs. Foresthill

5:00 – Weimar Hills vs. Holmes (White)

6:15 – Placer vs. Holmes (Blue)

7:30 – Toyon vs. Magnolia.

At Colfax Elementary

3:45 p.m. – Forest Lake Christian vs. Loomis

5:00 – Colfax vs. Pleasant Valley

6:15 - Rolling Hills vs. Newcastle

7:30 – Barrett vs. Union Hill
